The Alumiknox™ is divided into two compartments, the Padded Lid Tray and the regular compartment below. The Padded Lid Tray locks separately so you can access the bottom of the box while keeping your valuable equipment, tools, and sporting goods secure below. Alumiknox™ makes the only truck tool box with the patented Padded Lid Tray. The patent for the Padded Lid Tray was issued January 16, 1996, and is an update of the patent issued April 5 1994. These patents establish and protect the orginal double lid concept.

The Positive Closure System (PCS) allows the lower compartment of the Alumiknox truck tool box to be stuffed full without any problem in getting the lid to close and stay shut. When you have a lot to pack, you can fill the bottom of the box with equipment, tools, or toys and place any compressible item like a sleeping bag, coat, or tarp on top and then simply turn the handle. The PCS will then compress the soft items and securely close the lid. The PCS makes your Alumiknox tool box both easier to use and more secure. The first patent on the Positive Closure System was issued May 14, 2002. A refinement of that registration is now pending approval by the U.S. patent office.
